The City of Martinez, CA, cherishes its heritage as home of the original martini, home to baseball legend “Joltin’ Joe” DiMaggio, and home to conservationist John Muir, founder of the National Park System. Martinez is also the home of a Solvay Eco Services plant, which has proven itself as the safest and most reliable sulfuric acid plant in the world. The site regenerates a million pounds of sulfuric acid every day for nearby refineries. The site also supplies sulfuric acid for mining, pulp and paper manufacturing, agriculture, water treatment and battery production.

This summer, the Solvay plant added another distinction.

It was named one of the San Francisco Bay Area’s “Top 100 Workplaces” by the Bay Area News Group, publisher of the Contra Costa Times, the San Jose Mercury-News, the Oakland Tribune and other daily and weekly newspapers in California. The award recognizes a variety of attributes that make the Martinez site unique, in categories of “interesting facts,” “health & wellness,” and “community involvement.” MORE

The Industrial Association of Contra Costa County's (IACCC) 6th Annual Golf Event and Benefit for Los Medanos College was a huge success. The event was attended by over 130 people on a warm sunny day at Roddy Ranch Golf Course on June 6, 2014.

Lots of fun was had by all including contest holes, tee prizes and range balls, along with lunch and appetizers.

Over a hundred raffle prizes were donated including the grand prize worth over $1,500 donated by Mr. Albert Seeno Jr. of Discovery Builders/Seeno Homes.

The IACCC Executive Director, Jack Bean, presented Los Medanos College (LMC). President Bob Kratochvil a check for $5,000.  These funds will go towards support for student scholarships, an emergency fund for student veterans, and funding for the PTEC/ETEC programs to benefit our local industries.

A great big thank you to LMC staff, IACCC members, Roddy Ranch, volunteers and everyone who supported this great event. See you all next year!
